Dubai Adventures

Another day, another trip to the airport, but this time I am flying solo to Dubai to get ready for Erin’s amazing beachfront wedding!

Drinks as the top of the tallest building in the world!
With Nick unable to spare any holiday days so early in the year, I had a glorious five day so of dedicated girls time stretching ahead of me, and we really did make the most of it.

Bride and bridesmaid lunch

Along with some final wedding prep bits and pieces, there was also ample time for happy hours and dinners, brunches on the beach and on the day after the wedding, a full day of sunshine recovery by the pool before I had to fly back out to Singapore and real-life.

On the first day (having landed at 4am on three hours sleep) I forced Alhannah, Erin’s other bridesmaid and the only other person able to come out and play in the desert with me. After a 7am pick up, we drove for around an hour to play in the sand on quad bikes, camels, sand boards and four-wheel drives. It was great fun!

Sunday recovery time by the pool

This was the first destination wedding that I have been to, and it was an utter treat!

Erin & Naz tie the knot!

WHAT A FABULOUS DAY!
It feels like it’s been in the planning for ages (even though it really hasn’t been that long!) so the excitement really had built up by the time that it was finally the big day for my darling Miss Laing to become Mrs Daniyel!

Wedding breakfast with mummy

From when Erin first arrived in Singapore fresh from her Dubai holiday, carrying her giant rock along with her, right up to the last night of sleep in a shared room with myself and Alhannah, Erin has been over the moon and so excited about everything wedding related, and it really did show in the utterly beautiful day that they laid on.
There was a shockingly beautiful dress, amazing flowers, beautiful venues, endless dancing, incredible food and just an amazing atmosphere!

What a beautiful day!

It was a cracking day from start to finish! Congratulations Mr & Mrs Daniyel!

Countdown to Dubai

I can’t believe that it’s already time! I am flying out to Dubai TONIGHT! My lovely Erin is getting married out in the Dubai sun this Saturday, and so we’re all grouping up and preparing with a couple of days of fun before the big day.
I’ll be staying with Erin and trying my best to be helpful, but we have a couple of adventures booked in too (drinks at the top of the fancy tall building and a morning desert safari) and with the girls all arriving in the next few days, there will be a bit of time for mooching and hanging out before the big day too.

I can’t believe that Erin is getting married this weekend! It feels like just the other day that she was in Singapore celebrating the engagement, and even less time since she sent a little card and present asking me to be her maid of honour. Roll on this weekend!

Happy Valentines Day!

We don’t really believe in Valentines Day.  We do cards, but nothing else.
Since we went on best behaviour last February, Nick has been desperate to try out Raffles Afternoon Tea, so I slipped a little note saying that we are going to be going soon into his card.

Suddenly filled with enthusiasm for tea, and with a totally free Sunday stretching ahead of us, he quickly set about calling all other afternoon tea providers to see where we could spend our Sunday afternoon.

Fortunately (for us, but not my diet), we managed to book the last table at the St Regis, and spent the rest of our day dreaming of, enjoying and recovering from scones, cakes and an awful lot of tea!

A surprise supper

This Friday we had plans for a low key supper in Little India with my new work buddy Sonya.
Her boozy lunch slightly got in the way of these plans, and so instead of heading back for a quiet evening I went out to join her until Nick finished up work, and then we were going to slip away for dinner on our own.
Somehow, but the most unlikely of coincidence, minutes after Nick arrived, he had to pop out for another work call, and whilst standing in a very small, ridiculously quiet side road where runners go to do laps because so few people are ever on the road, he bumped straight into Kate and Duncan.
Kate and Duncan live in Hong Kong, and were passing through Singapore for just a few hours before their connecting flight home from a holiday in Lankawi. Rather than telling anyone that they were in town, they opted to have a quiet dinner, just the two of them.

Dinner at Lukes

Both our plans went out the window, and after a couple of quick catch up drinks we merged our solo dinner plans and had the most elaborate supper at Lukes, which was a real treat.

Sometimes it’s the nights when you are planning to do very little that turn out to be some of the best!
