IT’S CHRIIIIIISTMAS!

Well, it’s not really Christmas just yet, but it’s Friday, and Friday means that it’s home time – finally!
Just one more day in the office to battle through (mostly sending emails to people telling them that they will have to wait a full three weeks for any feedback from me from this point on) and then we will be headed to the airport!
Our flight home isn’t until 1am on Saturday morning, but I have already warned Nick that by 7pm I will be sat with my packed bags, waiting by the door to leave, so we’ll have to wait and see if he caves in to an early airport dinner. If not, this evening is going to be a couple of the longest and least patient hours of my life.
Only a few more hours until we’re on the road and heading back to the UK – TO GET MARRIED!!!!

Final few days to get through

The past few months have been peppered with the occasional job for the wedding. Buying the odd little thank you present. Working out whether we want to have table numbers in frame or on card. Nothing has been urgent, but the list has been slowly worked through and most of the main bits and pieces have already been finalised.
The best thing about this is that it makes this final week in Singapore an easy ride. We have a couple of things to finalise, like collecting Nick’s waistcoat and getting a first round of manicure done so that when I get the final one on the day before the wedding the nails are already shaped and ready to go. But other than these little bits and pieces, we are also now left with five days to desperately fill while just counting down the days until we can go to the airport.
There are lots of soups and salads, hours spent at the gym and emails warning people that soon I won’t be replying to them for three weeks, but those jobs can all only entertain me for so long. The rest of the day gets spent starting at the clock and the calendar, counting down the time as it trickles past. ROLL ON HOME TIME!!!

Final Singapore weekend of 2015

It feels like it’s been an incredibly long time coming, but we’re finally on the week or less countdown to home, and so our final weekend to be spent in Singapore in 2015 flew past in a flurry of jobs getting ticked off the list!
With the accompaniment of some of the best Christmas films (we’re talking Home Alone, Love Actually and Miracle on 34th Street) we made our way through all of our lists, and yes, we checked them twice, and it finally feels like our time to get home is edging ever nearer.

On Saturday we also celebrated a full year since Nick popped the question on a slightly stormy sunset beach in the Gillis with the aid of steak and champagne, so there were even a few celebrations to be had alongside the planning, online shopping, list consolidating and packing plans.

Then there were all the standard jobs like hair dying, flat cleaning and a quick lunch with our friend Scottie to get done. What could have been a totally manic weekend managed to be pretty calm and collected, but we’ll see whether we manage to maintain that over the coming few days as the flights home get ever closer…I already know that I am going to need to pay for extra luggage when I get to the airport!

Merry Christmas Team

Following on from the success of our client Christmas event, this Friday we spent the morning at our internal team event to round off what has been a very stressful and super busy year.
With so many of the team not really into drinking we set aside a full morning to get competitive in the kitchen, and spent a good few hours whipping up some real Thai delights, before sitting down to a Christmas lunch today.
There was less turkey and stuffing and more tofu and Pad Thai, but it was delicious, and really qiute a lovely way to say goodbye to two of the welcome, welcome two newbies and celebrate the demise of a year that really has put me through the mill!

Merry Christmas Clients

Every so often we like to organise a little party for our clients, and whilst we normally take the party to them, for the first time we decided to host an event and make them come to us – the double positive being that we were announcing our new MD to the market on the same day, so were able to make an arrangement that worked for everyone!
I found a great little cafĂ© bar in one of the trendy parts of town, which we proceeded to fill with drinks, food and a photobooth, before inviting 100 of our biggest clients out to celebrate with us.
In the UK a Christmas party would be a bit of a fancy affair, perhaps with cocktail dresses and mulled wine. In Singapore you just come from work, drink cooling cocktails and sit out in the evening sun with the air of some serious aircon to make it bearable.

Work buddies

And clients!
It was a great night, we got amazing feedback, and we got a great turn out too (which was a bit sketchy when a storm broke just a few hours before kick off). All in all it was a great way to round off the year, and with this done and dusted, we’re not one step closer to home time!
