HOMETIME!!!!!

After a week or so on my own in Singapore, passing the time with a little bit of wedding planning and waiting for Tuesday to finally be over, it’s now home time, and I can’t wait!
With quite a bit of Singapore tat to take back with me, I decided to make the most of the luggage allowance…I have never had so many bags for a couple of days at home, but I don’t even care. I’m just so excited for it finally to be time to go!

Just waiting it out

Waiting, waiting, waiting. If there is one thing in the world that I hate, it’s waiting. I’ve never had a scrap of patience, and so having to wait for anything is the most infuriating, irritating, bloody awful things in the world. I hate waiting!
Waiting, waiting, waiting. Waiting for Tuesday. Waiting to go home. Waiting to go to the airport. Waiting for English sunshine and cups of tea made of proper milk. Waiting for news of Gma. Waiting to go and see my parents. Just endless tedious waiting.

Low calorie Happy Crumble does not work on waiting irritation, which is also annoying. I guess I’ll just have to sit here. And wait.

Final weekend to get through

Having recovered from the disappointment of not being able to change my flights to before the weekend, I have decided that the only way through is going to be to embrace the few days left before home time.
I have Friday night, Saturyda and Sunday to really make the most of being here solo. There will be gym sessions, wedding planning, holiday prepping, washing and packing, and a huge round of cleaning. There is nothing I hate more than going on holiday and leaving the flat dirty. If I have to be here for these three days, I might as well make them count.
Friday was spent mooching and making the plan for the rest of the weekend before a very much needed, very early night.

Saturday has been slightly more productive. A lot of time was spent at the gym, before I went on a little wander around the shops and came home with a few bits and pieces, and some epic sparkly shoes for Rae. I just couldn’t help myself!
I assume that Sunday will be more of the same – cleaning, sorting and gym-ing, whilst eating only super healthy treats and cooking all the raw veggies in the fridge to get them in to a freezeable state. Oh, and a quick mani-pedi session to ensure that I am 100% ready to go home and HEN next weekend.  It’s not the most exciting way to spend time here, but hopefully it means that on Friday when the white dress goes on, it also does up! Fingers crossed anyway.

Farewell steak

Another dinner at the flat and another round of steaks to bid Nick farewell can only mean that he is once again returning to the UK on holiday without me. Thankfully, I will be joining him after the weekend, so I can’t sulk about it too much. Plus, making it to steak time means that my mammoth of a week is nearly over, I survived the event this afternoon, and if there was ever a day that I had earned a glass of wine, today was most definitely it.

Having rushed back to the flat to make dinner while Nick packed his bags, we found ourselves with a bit of time to spare before he had to head off to the airport at 9:30, so we used our time wisely, and made a couple of wedding invites to take home and give to our direct family in person. It was in part to practise, partly because I wanted to play with the wedding stamp, sort of because it’s getting close to invite time, but mostly because we though it would be fun to deliver just five of the invites by hand.

There are still a lot more to do when we get back from the UK, and having spent a lot of time making just five of them good enough to send out, I now have a sneaking suspicion that we ought to have started the process sooner, and that I perhaps should have taken some sort of fancy calligraphy class beforehand.

Work, work, work

This week has been almost unbearable at work. Not only am I having to make sure that our office runs as needed and that all the team have the support that they need, I also have to ensure that the new guy in the US is getting all the help he needs (for some reason, that takes a person on the other side of the world to get done), I also have to get everything straightened out and sorted before I head home for my holiday next week, and I have a major event with some of the biggest names in the Singapore market attending, and I’m having to do it on my own. The only real positive of this week was a message from our CEO, saying that he had noticed that my name seemed to be coming up a lot whenever anyone had anything to say about our office, and that he was very grateful for all my efforts, so that was nice. The call from Google to see if I would be interested in talking to them about a new role they are building out in their local team was very nice too...
It sort of serves me right for volunteering for the role of Chair for a big industry committee, but in the past, and for other events I have at least had one or two people in the group who are keen to actively help out as much as possible. It seems to be a very different case this time around, and so 85% of my time this week (at least) has gone on trying to plan the event, source the speakers, replace the speakers who cancelled at the last minute, shape out the training sessions and supply the trainers and moderators).

I seem to be starting the day tired and ending the day tired, but it’s Thursday, the training room at the big LinkedIn offices is set up and ready for my guests. Now all I have to do is hold it together until the end of the day, remember every ones names as I introduce them, and get through to home and steak time in one piece. Wish me luck.
