Back to the coast

I’m hung over today. Very, very hung over. It turns out that when your boyfriend has a fairly extensive alcohol selection at the house, and you have people over for dinner who are keen to try out all the options, you are likely to wake up the next day with a very sore head. A very sore head indeed!
Add to the early start the fact that this was the first hangover I had to face in the hot muggy weather, and I think it’s fair to say that I have struggled with life a bit today.
I woke up at around eight, and whilst my plan was to get a cup of tea and then go back to bed for more sleep, as soon as I saw the state that our flat was in, there was no way that I was going back to sleep. And so I started to clean, wash and scrub my way around the flat. Luckily for us, it’s a fairly small space, so the operation wasn’t too extensive, and by the time Nick emerged, the only jobs left were to run the rubbish down to the bins and to shake out the rugs over the balcony, which he duly did.
Unsure what to do with ourselves once everything was clean and straightened, we decided that it was perhaps the sort of day where we needed to spend the morning outside and the afternoon in hibernation, which is exactly what we did.
During the week Nick had discovered that the Clipper boats had been a week delayed in their arrival into Singapore, and so this weekend they were open and available for wandering round – we just had to get ourselves over to the marina in Sentosa, and then we had a ready made Sunday morning plan.
We cheated a bit (did I mention that I was hung over) and we took a cab straight over to the marina (there is a cable car, but I wasn’t quite ready for that today…maybe next time). There followed a good few hours of mooching around by the water, eating pizza in an amazing Italian overlooking the water, and then dragging ourselves around Cold Storage to stock up on emergency supplies for the rest of the day.
Having flagged down another taxi to get us home, the rest of the day was spent in our pajamas, watching old English comedy and weird geekie films, drinking posh orange tango and eating plates full of cheese for dinner. It maybe wasn’t exactly the most classy day, but it was lovely all the same, and it was just about the most I could handle following our Saturday night!
