New team buddies |
Nights out with BrightRoll used to finish at around two
in the morning, with most of the office unable to get themselves home as the
last trains had already finished, and the rest of the team struggling to get
back into the office the following day, less for transport reasons, more due to
failing alarms and sore heads!
I wasn’t
really sure what to expect with my new company, but I knew for certain that it
wasn’t going to be in a similar vein here. I’ve made a couple of contacts who I
can already tell are going to be trouble if there are beers involved in any of
our meetings (and that is why I am keeping in particularly close contact with them specifically), but when it comes to the office atmosphere, I think it might take some time
to warm up properly.
That said we had a lovely team
dinner out in the super touristy areas along the river (so I loved it, clearly - Nick wouldn’t be seen dead there!) Then a couple of us grabbed a quick drink in
a cute little cocktail bar that might have to become my
home-from-Covent-Garden-Cocktail-Club-home whilst I’m here. I’m glad I’ve got
one lined up so quickly – you need to have all your tea making essentials to hand when you
move into a new house and having a stonking, talented, cosy and artily designed cocktail bar at your disposal less than ten minutes away from work is just the same. Almost.
It wasn’t a late night for many
reasons, but as I had an incredibly early start this morning (the joys of
working with the US from Asia) it was just the right amount of playtime before
bed. It didn’t entirely make up for the fact that I had to be back in the
office and ready for calls from 7:30 this morning, but it helped. Slightly. Nick
on the other hand stumbled in at 2am and was dead to the world when my alarm
went off at 6am. I wonder if he’s sulking at me about that…I should probably
check.
