Because this week is the only time that I
will be back before the real countdown to the wedding, and as I needed a good
excuse to go into London and catch up with the girls for at least one day while
I am back in the UK, the first Saturday of my trip was selected as the date for
my very own Hen Party. So much fun!
Having
started off the day super early I headed up into London and met up with Ellie
and Philippa at Victoria station. From there, my entire day was just
back-to-back surprises and excitement, and it was amazing. First up the three
of us headed over to Selfridges where we each got out hair backcombed to within
an inch of it’s life and then pinned up into cute 60s style arrangements.

Once
we were primed and pimped we got the lift up to the roof where Vintage Salt, a
nautical themed pop up restaurant is currently serving some delicious wine and
food. After that it was time to go and meet the others.

As
with all good London adventures, the adventure began at The Palace. We arrived
at a house filled with all my favourite people, pictures of us all pinned up on
the wall, and amazing table full of afternoon tea treats, and goodie bags with
fun props and sparkles to really round off our evening. The girls had also made
me an amazing little photo and memory book, with really sweet messages and some
lovely photos of us through the years – it was ridiculously cute! And they had
arranged to have a polaroid camera so that we caught some great images of us
enjoying the sunshine in the garden. They will be added to the book too!

The
afternoon passed in a glorious mix of prosecco drinking, cake eating and hen
game playing. There were messages from the girls who couldn’t make the hen, prize
giving for the best cake, and there was a game of Mr and Mrs which I did
surprising badly at. Not my finest hour!

Once
we were all suitably lubricated it was time to go to my favourite Brasserie
Zedel for one more cocktail before an amazing French dinner, fantastically paid
for by my lovely ladies.

The final stop of
our night was Cahoots, a new underground bar that had been styled to look just
like a 1940’s Northern Line tube carriage, serving a mean cocktail or two
teapots and other fun vessels.

It
was a great evening, and so lovely to spend time with all the girls. By the end
of the night I had forgotten that it was my hen (thankfully there were no veils
or crowns inflicted on me, making it impossible to forget), and it was just
such a fantastically lovely evening. I
am so grateful to all the girl for their hard work and amazing organisation. I
loved every minute of it!
Love my girls! |
Sunday
morning dawned with us all feeling a little bit groggy, but we headed out for a
slightly low-key recovery brunch before having to bid farewell to all my
favourites as the excitement of the hen was finally over.
Thankfully
I had one more little adventure lined up before I had to leave my beloved
London – my wedding make up practise. I was pretty grey and slightly gross
looking before I started, but thanks to the artists at Bobbi Brown, by the time
I met with Nick at the train station (the first time that we have seen each
other in a few weeks), I was looking ever so slightly more alive and
presentable. But really only slightly!
