Singapore has been sitting under a cloud of
dirty haze / fog for the past few weeks, and it’s really rather grotty.
Thankfully they managed to clear things up a bit during the F1 weekend so that being
out of the house to watch the action wasn’t too offensive, but it’s back with a
vengeance again this week, and it’s really rather vile.
The
smog blows in from the slash and burn in Indonesia where the palm tree
plantations are cutting down and regenerating, but sadly the smoggy, dirty air
blows over Singapore and gets stuck here with no wind to help move it further
away.
This
Friday it got so bad that the local schools were all shut, and we made the decision
not to head into the office unless it’s urgent. That means that my day was
spent working at the flat, with Miss Marple for company on the TV.
It
also meant that I had to pop out to the shop for supplies, and I returned to
the flat with some fun sparse flowers to fill my new jug (purchased in Bali and
carried back with the most care imaginable) and enough goodies to make a dinner
of salmon, cauliflower mash and greens.
All the good stuff, and no lung cancer to report. Yet!
