When you say “would you like to come over
for Sunday lunch” this ought to conjure up images of roast beef, gravy and
Yorkshire puddings. There ought to be the promise of a nice red wine, and maybe
a crumble to round things off, obviously covered in a ridiculous amount of
custard (because that’s how things taste best), but in our world this sort of
invite has come to mean something very different.
With
good behaviour required for the foreseeable future (excluding only Nick’s stag
next week ad our visit from Catherine and Jeff), when we invite people over to
eat with us now, they have grown accustomed to it meaning that we will serve
them vegetables in some form or another.
Liv
is thankfully used to this routine, so when her Sunday dinner of salmon and
veggies was served she seemed pretty happy. When Nick’s friend Nick and his
adorable daughter Kate came over for Sunday lunch I am not sure whether they
had been warned what to expect, but if they were hoping for roast, the were
sorely disappointed with grilled chicken salad.
Thankfully
the adorable Kate was more than happy with the healthy goodies that we had laid
out for her, but I think that Nick might think twice before accepting a lunch
invite from us again until after the wedding!
