This weekend has been a very, very low key
one.
On
Friday afternoon I was flying through the day, had three calls left until the
end of the day and had a mountain of emails ready to be sent having finally got
feedback from our legal teams on the wording of a couple of contracts. Then,
while eating apples, my eyes decided to stop working, and the rest of the
weekend went downhill from there.
When
I get migraines, I don’t just get the delightful headache, in fact, I very
rarely get as far as the headache, it’s all the terrible bits before that which
I have to handle. Tunnel vision, blurred vision, a loss of coherent speech, the
inability to link words, names and letters either with the object they
represent, or to string them into a sentence.
It’s no fun at all, and the only way to battle
through it is to take some magic migraine pills and then go to bed until it’s
passed. Friday was spent in bed in a darkened room from 1:30 until around 7pm
when Nick came home and I ventured out to eat eggs with toast soldiers (comfort
food) and then was back in bed by 9pm.
On
Saturday I was feeling slightly more chipper, so we ventured out of the house
on a very slow, very steady little Christmas shopping trip, topping up on
festive essentials and ensuring that we were getting our fill of sequins and
Christmas music.
On
Sunday, after a very long sleep and a very restful Saturday, I was awake and working
on wedding jobs at 9am, but then was back in bed in the recovery position again
from noon.
I
managed to drag myself out of bed for a quite dinner with Andy who is passing
through town this week and who likes to have a quick catch up when he’s here,
but other than that, my entire day was spent horizontal, sleeping. I don’t know
if I have ever slept quite so much, but I am hoping that it was enough to put
me on the straight and narrow, and to get me fighting fit again for this week.
