A family weekend in the desert

Having run away from the US team a day early, I arrived in Reno at midnight on Friday Thursday night / Friday morning, ready for a sleep and then a serious session of general family nonsense, and that is exactly what I got.

Starting from my 7am wake up call (with Rae shouting for Auntie Su-Su until I got up and let her into the room), the weekend passed in a glorious blur of babies, pooches, ponies, Starbucks drive throughs, a trip to the beach, smores making sessions in the garden, girly pedicures with Mandi at a place with the most amazing massage chairs and meals of the most ridiculous portions and contents that you can possibly imagine.

As always, when I had to leave after breakfast on the Sunday morning I felt like I was leaving home all over again, and that I really hadn’t been there enough this year. I am supposed to go twice a year, and this measly two days has ended up being the best that I have to offer so far. Thankfully Catherine and Jeff are going to be coming out to see us in November, but even that knowledge doesn’t make it any easier to leave.
