After a full month back in the UK sorting out work contracts and visas,
Kate is now back in Singapore and here to stay (for at least a couple of months
until her and Duncan relocate to Hong Kong permanently).
So, with one day a week
set aside for alcohol consumption, Friday night felt like the perfect time to
indulge in a couple of cheeky gin and tonics, and a little bit more dinner than
I’ve been allowing myself recently.
With a total of 11
people arranged around a fairly snug table, we had a very merry evening making
our way through a couple of gins, some risotto and a cheeky (massive) bowl of
pear and ginger crumble with custard. Whilst I managed to be pretty restraint
for most of the servings it was sad but inevitable that the crumble would be
the death of my good intentions – it was just so ridiculously good!
Luckily, once the
crumble was demolished we all entered into a bit of a food coma, and so the
night drew to a close at a very respectable 11:30, with plenty of time to
shuffle home and still get to bed at a not-too-offensive hour.
It was lovely to
celebrate Kate being home (and to stuff my face), but that was my one “happy
meal” of the week, and so the good behaviour continues. Meh.
