Market Day

On Saturday evening Nick had hatched a master plan with Kev to have the ultimate Mans Sleep Over. To be hosted at Kev’s whilst Jules was away for the weekend, the plan was for them to game all night (with the aid of Nicks’ new projector), whilst working their way through a selection of beverages and a tonne of chicken wings. They told me that it was going to be an audio-visual dream the likes of which had never before been realised. I didn’t believe them, but I don’t really think that matters!
This was apparently the best plan that they had ever made, and it was thankfully one that didn’t appeal to me in the slightest, so I set about making plans for a day of best behaviour and plenty of sleep. (Being on a diet sucks!)
That said, their evening didn’t kick off until 4pm, so that left the full day to fill beforehand.
My standard start to Saturday is to take a little jolly down to Tekka to stock up on cheap veggies and treats to make it through the rest of the week. Once this was done we weren’t too sure what to do next, so we made our way over to Holland Village to locate one particular shop that sells some special hot sauce that was essential for Nick to get his hands on.

On our way home we decided to check out Pasarbella, a food market housed in the old horse racing stands that is compared to London’s Borough Market and that I had wanted to take a wander around for ages.
Sadly, it was still a diet day, but I am going back there the minute huge meat sandwiches are back on the menu, because they had some incredible food on offer! Massive cheese platters, pulled pork sandwiches bigger than my head, freshly made sausage rolls and Scotch eggs and even huge vats of fresh paella – you name it, they had it!
I was only able to sample the very delicious coffee and a very dull salad, but Nick tried out the roast pork and crackling sandwich and took some of the sausage rolls to share with Kev that evening. The reviews were incredibly good – I need to get back to that market, asap!
