Sunset over San Francisco Bay |
This
evening I had client drinks in the city. As if a back to back training schedule
for the week wasn’t enough, on top of journeys out to catch up with Charlie and
Heidi, I also accidentally signed myself up to some client meetings and drinks
this week too – just to fill up those final few moments of spare time.
Sea lions! |
Whilst I should really have been
back at the apartment, working on my pitch, this evening I made my way over to
the city via my new beloved Bart Train, to meet up with a client for drinks in
a bar that ended up being almost directly below my old office block. That could
have been immensely awkward if they were hosting an event or their own drinks
there at the same time!
Luckily, the drinks were fairly
brief, and after an hour or so they were more than happy to call it a night.
Had I not had anything else to do in the city, this would have been slightly
annoying (as we met up for less time than the travel back and forth took), but luckily
I had a date with the sea lions down on Fisherman’s Wharf Pier 39 which I was
more than happy to hurry away to.
The sea lions are just incredible to
watch – they live on a selection of pontoons near the main tourist centre of
the waterfront, and they happily swim, sunbath and shout to each other,
regardless of how many tourists are clambering for a photo.
Once I had sat and watched them
chatting to each other for a while (in perfect sunset conditions) I made my way
over to Boudin, a local chain restaurant that I went to once with Catherine and
Jeff when I was over previously, and where you can buy the very best, local
crab and corn chowder with sourdough (two local specialities) served in the
most impressive way!
There’s not much better in this
world than good chowder in a bowl of bread! So very tasty, and so very San Francisco.
