BBQ meat coma

With a full fortnight in San Francisco just around the corner, we allocated Friday night as our official date night of the week. It’s been a busy week, with plenty of plans, but I’ve always had a special appreciation for a quiet Friday night, so we hatched a plan that required minimal input, and maximum mooching around time.
There is an old Catholic church on the way to my work called Chijmes, which houses around 20 different restaurants and bars. They get lit up at night, and with their fabulous setting and plenty of outdoor fans, it makes for a great spot for a quiet catch up whilst on route back to the flat.
There are loads of places within the grounds to choose from, but we decided that an early Friday night dinner of Brazilian BBQ at Carnivore Brazilian Churrascariai was just what we required.
This is the sort of place where you grab a salad from the salad bar when you arrive, and then waiters loop around the restaurant with hot pokers covered in meat, slicing off portions of their offerings to anyone who leaves their personal disc turned face up on green. While you struggle through all the amazing selections you flip the disc to red, giving you just enough time to digest what you have before flipping back over to green and starting all over again.
I feel like this is the sort of place you have to either to at lunchtime, when you have a whole day to digest the ridiculous amount of red meat and spicy chicken. Or that you have to go to with competitive eating boys, to make sure you get your monies worth.
Still, we had a great night, sharing a bottle of wine. Then when we were well and truly stuffed we walked the 20 minutes back to our flat, where we flopped on the sofa, underneath a duvet because Nick had gone crazy with the aircon, and napped. What an exciting date night!
