The never-ending Saturday

As if the fun of the zoo wasn’t enough, once our morning of monkey fun at the zoo was out of the way, we still had a full afternoon to play with (and an entire night). Having to be at the airport for 3am to be ready for my 5am flight out to San Francisco, it was decided that I was be awake until it was time for my taxi, in an effort to guarantee sleep on the plane.
Once we had made it back from cake and coffee time at PS Café, I had some speed packing to get sorted while Nick napped on the sofa as we prepared to head out for a friends birthday BBQ.
The brief nap turned into a three hour recovery sleep, but by around eight we were back out of the house, armed with lamb kebabs and red wine, ready for a nice casual night out.
The birthday BBQ was for a couple who live in a lovely flat about ten minutes away from us, and it was a fabulous evening. Not only was the BBQ alongside a swimming pool, with a lovely twenty-person table laid out with all the BBQ essentials and a well stocked ice-box, there was also a little something that made the evening even more special. A puppy, that’s right, they had a puppy!
Whilst I was using the time to make new friends and hangout with the girls, I do have to admit that at least an hour was spent hugging the super cute mongrel puppy. I love a puppy cuddle!
Middle of the night in Changi
By the time it was time for the puppy to go to bed, there was just time for a couple of burgers and a glass or two of chilled red wine (my new weakness) before we headed out to meet at couple of other friends who were out welcoming a new holiday making friend, drinking cocktails on Arab Street. It would be rude not to join them really!
With a couple of jugs of margaritas on order (lime for most of us, strawberry for Nick – of course!), we claimed a fairly large table outside on the alley street, surrounded by the bustle of the crowds, making the most of the warm evening and the free flowing drinks.
Eventually, as a number of the group were building up to continuing their night out on the tiles, it was time for us to call it a night. Whilst I was more than happy to be a bit tired and sleepy on the flight (which I most certainly was), the idea of being drunk and then hungover on the flight was absolutely not going to work for me!
Nick very sweetly agree to come back with me, so we wandered the 30 minutes home where the final hours of the morning were spent on the sofa before my booked car came to take me to the airport.
Now it’s 3am, the airport is absolutely dead, and there are only two flights leaving before mine. I have never seen an airport this empty!
