Invites for nights out on Friday often include trips to Club Street,
excessive amounts of drinking and the threat of a nightclub at the end of it,
and as a result, I often reject the invite. However, this week we had
found an event out in Sentosa that I thought sounded right up my street, and
that Nick was able to combine with a client night out and a spectacular dinner
to really make a night of it.
Before heading over to
a beach bar in Sentosa for a night of Jazz by the Beach, we went up to the top
of the Marin Bay Sands ship-shaped building for a really delicious dinner. We
have been to the Ku De Ta bar for drinks a number of times – it’s the ultimate
tourist / visitor drinking hole, so you have to go whenever there’s someone in
town who needs to see all the sights. But the dinner at Ku De Ta is quite
pricey, and as a result we had never ventured to that side of the boat when
stepping out of the lift. However, with Nick’s company credit card burning a
hole in his pocket and his favourite client and his wife willing to join us for a relaxed night out, it felt like the perfect time to see what they had on offer.
There was sushi,
sashimi, delicious beef, beautifully cooked pork – all of it Asian inspired
fusion food with a twist. It was utterly delicious, and with the glorious
sunset helping to provide the perfect backdrop it was an idyllic way to round
off a busy week and kick start a very chilled out weekend.
We had to be over in
Sentosa by around 8:15, so dinner was delicious but brief and we were soon in a
taxi over to Coaste, where a stage had been set up on the sandy beach, and
where we nestled down amongst the palm trees, with the sound of waves breaking behind
us to listen to some really impressive jazz whilst we whiled away the rest of
our Friday night. The level of relaxation by the end of it was really rather
impressive. Every Friday should end just like this one!
