My Saturday passed very quietly indeed. Whilst Nick slept for most of the
day, I pootled around getting ready for the proper birthday celebrations. Along with a spot of shopping there was a bit
of solo brunching to be done, and a quick wander around the local art gallery
to fill the time.
When Nick finally
emerged we headed down to the cricket club to meet up with Liv for a glass of
pimms on the terrace whilst we watched Matt play cricket, and then we headed
back to theirs for dinner and drinks with a couple of others. It was a low key
Saturday, and very much needed.
Sunday on the other
hand, Sunday was not very sedate at all! I woke up early to clean the flat and
get ready for Kev and Jules who were due to arrive with us at 11am for
pre-brunch espresso martinis. There followed a day of drinking and birthday celebrations,
with brunch at Cataluña, bubbles in the sun, and even more drinks afterwards
when they came back to our flat to pass the rest of the afternoon.
Brunches are always way
too excessive, and boarded on the disgusting (that’s apparently the whole
point), but they are also great fun. The four of us tried out a bit of all the
best foods, we had a couple of cocktails, and we spent the afternoon dancing the
time away with our waiter...as you do.
Thank goodness I had the
day off on Monday!
