This week nearly all of my office has been over in Australia on a sales lead conference for our company. The negative of working in a sales focused company, but not for the sales team is that you get left behind a lot! Still, there were two of us left behind, so we had a slightly quiet and sad week cracking on with work and getting an awful lot done in the others absence.
The one other girl who
was still in the office decided that she would work from home pretty much every
morning until around 2pm, which often meant that if I had meetings booked in
for the afternoon then I wouldn’t see her for the full day. I assume she was
doing work, although you can never be sure.
As most of the office
was out, and she didn’t feel the need to be around too much either, I decided
that Friday would be a working from home day. And it was glorious! I was online
and working all day, but in a much more causal way than normal. I didn’t wear make up all day, I had a working
lunch at the Cups and Canvas café that I love, I had a coffee (with laptop on
at all times) at the Starbucks just down the road from our flat, and the minute
the clock struck 5pm, I was offline and getting ready for our night out.
I wouldn’t want to work
from home all the time, but every now and then it really is a bit of a treat!
