Dinner out early in the week is a dangerous game for me. One day of potatoes
and pudding can throw my good intentions in the bin for a full week (yes, I’m
slightly mental but my brain can only diet and embrace the gym when it’s part
of a plan with a clean beginning – I have to start on a Monday and follow
through for as much of the week as possible. If I fall down early, the rest of
the week is pretty much a write-off. )
So when we struggled to
make a plan for dinner with Guy and India for over a month, when they suggested
a Tuesday night I knew I was just going to have to go with it and hopefully be
able to keep my mind and not get too involved with wine and cake or anything
else dangerous like that!
Not only had we been
trying to get a plan in the diary with these guys for months, but they also
have a puppy – when they discussed dinner at their flat, there was no way that
I was going to be turning down their invitation!
Luckily, as it was a
Tuesday they were in a pretty similar mind-set to me, so we arrived to a gorgeous
dinner of chicken salads and veggies on the side, served out on the balcony
with a tiny little glass of wine on the side and a mini-magnum for dessert.
What could have been a diet disaster came in well under my daily calorie allowance,
and the diet is able to continue.
Plus, I got a squish
with the puppy – win, win!
