The end of an era

Since I have been back on best behaviour for the past month (good lord, it feels like a lot longer than that already), I may have managed to shift a stone, and I may indeed be one inch closer to fitting into my wedding dress (although there are still a few more to go), but sadly sometimes the drive of having to either fit the dress or having to buy a new one is not quite enough to power me on through.
In place of a cheeky glass of wine, or a little extra cheese on top of whatever it is that I’m eating, I’ve had to search around to come up with something else to power me on through in place of calorific treats. Nothing major, just a little something to pick me up and power me through until a suitable hour to go to bed, as apparently giving up on the day at 9pm is not appropriate!
Luckily, I didn’t have to search too hard before Nick introduced me to a new TV show, called Parks and Recreation. Set in a parks department office of a fictional town in Indiana, this show is mindless, ridiculous, and makes me laugh out loud at least five times an episode. Nick had downloaded one of the episodes for us to try out, but we quickly added every series we could find to keep us entertained whenever we were in the flat with time to spare (we don't have normal everyday TV, so if we want TV we have to download it and store it before we can watch it).
Our new lovely friend "Parks and Rec" has been powering me through the long nights of being home alone while the rest of the world goes out to play, and it’s been glorious.  That is, it was glorious, until yesterday, when it all went wrong!

My new Parks and Recreation buddies

Having woken up at 6:30 to go to the gym before a full day of back to back meetings, a swim, and a quick skype with some of the girls, the only thing left to offer me a little ray of sunshine was the promise of watching a little bit of ‘Parks and Rec’ whilst eating a sad little bowl of vegetables for dinner.
On a normal night this would have been fine, but it was only when the show started that I realised it was the finale. The last ever show!  For some unknown reason they decided that seven series was enough and that there was to be no more amazing entertainment to power me through the next nine months until W-Day. I had to spend my evening bidding farewell to all the lovely characters, and the comedy, and the magic. I am sure that I will start again from the beginning sooner or later, but the sadness at not having another new episode to watch really is quite depressing for me in my already delicate state.
I am sure that something else will arrive to fill the gap, but at the moment I can’t think what it will be, and I am already dreading the lull when I get back from my BodyPump class tonight and I have a long list of other disappointing shows to have to pick from. What a sad, sad, day!
