When our MD left a month ago, he presented
us each with a book that he had thought about and matched to the different
personality types of the team. I received a copy of “I am Malala”, the autobiography
of the girl who was shot in the head by the Taliban, who was then transported
to the UK for treatment, and survived!
It
was one of those books that had never really stood out for me, but a gift is a
gift, so I accepted it graciously and added it to the pile of books to read
once I was finally clear of my Kindle list and could read whatever tickled my
fancy.
Over
the past week I have had ample spare time before sleeping, and I have used this
to try and really plough through my reading list. After working my way through four really
quite great books, Malala was next on my list.
I
have to be honest, I wasn’t very excited about reading it, and I didn’t really
love it while I was on my way through, but I did find a sweet little message in
the front of the book that powered me on through and made me feel obliged to
make it to the end. Left there by the MD before he went on to bigger and better
things, I thought this was a very sweet way of saying goodbye.
Thankfully,
the book is now finished and I am onto the next one. I wonder how many I will get
through before Nick gets back!
