Culture vulture weekend

If last weekend was my weekend for reading (and as you can see from my stash of completed books below, it really was), then this weekend was certainly my culture vulture weekend.

Having finished up work a little later than usual on Friday as I had to complete a couple of interviews for our potential new MD, I dashed from work down to the theatre to catch the Singapore Symphony Orchestra who were playing a one night space themed arrangement, including Holst’s The Planets and Strauss’ Also Sprach Zarathustra.  It’s been a long time since I had been to the theatre on my own. It used to be one of my guilty pleasures in London, but the selection they have out here is not quite so inspiring.

Still, this was a lovely relaxed start to my weekend, and the two hours of beautiful music was a great way to ease me out of the working week and into my very, very relaxed weekend.

Even better, on Saturday I had booked myself in for matinee performance of The 39 Steps, a hilarious three man show that I had seen on the West End, and that was maybe even better for the fact that in Singapore is was shown in a theatre with just six rows of audience and no real need for microphones! It was a bit hit and miss, and a slightly off-beat production to say the least, but it was great fun, and it filled part of my afternoon perfectly!
