Having had to work for this entire week,
when my Thursday afternoon ended up looking relatively empty I jumped at the
chance to rearrange a couple of meetings and take the afternoon off for a bit
of extra girly mooching around time with Erin before the weekend finally
arrived!
Pink, pink and more pink |
The
sun was back out in full force today (thankfully – grey days in Singapore are a
bit tricky when you’re on your own and you don’t really have anything much to
keep you entertained!) so Erin had spent her morning through to around 2pm out
by the pool and topping up her tan. By the time I got home it was time for
another round of dim sum (it’s just too tasty not to) and then a little girly
session at the pinkest, fluffiest, and cosiest nail bar that we could find in
the area around the flat. I’m sad that Erin didn’t opt for any of the nail art
– Hello Kitty logos on each finger would have been delightful. For a while.
Wine and nibbles at Fort Canning |
Once
we were all beautified and good to go it was then time to rush back to the flat
and grab our picnic essentials ready for an evening of culture watching The Tempest
at Shakespeare in the Park. Last year they were showing The Merchant of Venice,
and it was great fun. The Tempest isn’t really quite as fun, so it was a bit of
a strange performance from start to finish. Still, we had another lovely catch
up with Kev and Jules, and there was a picnic with wine, hummus and pizza, so
we certainly were not complaining too loudly!
Shakespeare in the Park |
This
is going to be our last night out and about with Erin in Singapore. Tomorrow we’re
off to Phuket for a chilled out few days at the beach. I am very much hoping
that the days are sunny and breezy and that the evenings are cool enough to
keep at least some of the mosquitos at bay, but we’ll have to see how we get
on. Either way it will be nice to be able to spend the full day with Erin just
mooching around and catching up, and I always love to be at The Village, so it
will be amazing to be back there for a while too. It always feels a bit like
coming home, and as Stuey has even offered to pick us up from the airport, it
promises to be a lovely return to the island.
