With Nick out of Singapore all day, starting at 6:30 when he had to
leave for a ferry over to Batam (which was a major shock for his poor sleepy
brain), I had a whole day to fill however I chose.
I went for the
super-productive approach, and after just a little bit more sleep, my day
kicked off at 7:30 – there was the gym, Haw Par Villa, a deep clean of the
flat, lots of laundry, a trip to Haw Par Villa, shopping for an outfit to Jess
and Alex’s wedding in a couple of weeks time, swimming, a tiny bit of
sunbathing and I even made it to the end of two Star Wars films, cutting my 100
movies list down to just 8 more to go.
By the time Nick came
home at around 8pm, I was lying on the sofa in an immaculately clean flat,
drinking tea and reading the latest issue of Expat Living, which was recommending
yet more tasty places to eat and exotic locations to holiday.
It was with some effort
that I had to extract myself from this beautiful air-conditioned (it is boiling
in Singapore at the moment, even when the sun is gone) haven and venture back
out into the world for dinner.
Thankfully we both
agreed that we would try out Our Village, an Indian restaurant on
super-touristy Boat Quay, that is secreted away up some stairs, away from the hubbub
of the main street, and with an open-air balcony, offering incredible views of
the city to accompany a very tasty and pretty reasonable dinner.
Dinner was lovely and
relaxed, and with a cheeky (very naughty) ice-cream to follow, it was with
incredible full bellies and sleepy eyes that we made out way back to the flat
and quickly proceeded to pass out in record time.
