Keeping it cheap

We’re keeping things cheap at the moment – we go away so much that the aim is to spend as little as possible in Singapore, so that we can spend more when we’re away in fun and exciting places (like Australia – less than a week to go!).
As such, our Friday night plans were incredibly low key. We met up with Kev and Jules for a very reasonable $30 a head Chinese dinner with a couple of drinks on the side. It was very no frills – plastic crockery, service with no smiles and a limited amount of aircon.
It was a really fun night, and one that was so chilled out that we managed to get home before 9:30 had struck. That suited me down to the ground!

The only negative thing about our little outing was the fact that Fatty’s (our new comfort food location just near the house) is selling shark fin soup, and only charging $10 for a bowl full! Not that the pricing really matters, but for such a discussing and offensive dish, I would at least expect them to charge more so that it’s unaffordable and therefore limited in scale. But no, torture soup is up for grabs to anyone who can spare the equivalent of a fiver. Disgusting!
