Half way around our MacRitchie adventure |
After a few very quiet, very lazy days,
today we’re back on a normal weekend day in Singapore, and so it felt like it
was time to start making the most of the time off work.
We
kick started the day with an early morning hike around the MacRitchie
reservoir. I promised Nick a nice little stroll, but following a much earlier
start that he was really ready for, it quickly became apparent that it was
going to be a little bit more intense than that.
Half way round and still having fun (despite our sweatiness!) |
Following
our 10km hike cross-country, in the company of monkeys and a lot of people in
spandex jogging gear we rushed home in good time to shower and then meet
Scottie at our beloved Artichoke for a healthy-ish lunch, and a good catch up.
Back at Artichoke - again! |
It took a while
for us to realise that for all the times we had tried to meet up in the past
year we actually hadn’t see him since Shock & Awe the August before last,
so it was a long overdue meeting, with a couple of naughty treats (a shared
bowl of chips and a glass of bubbles for Nick) to mark the occasion.
Lunch with Scottie |
After this Nick
was full to the brim with vegetables and the early start / morning hike was
starting to catch up with him so we headed back to the flat so that he could
have a valuable hour long nap while I powered through the rest of my book.
Once I had managed
to drag Nick back from the edge of sleep it was then time for us to make our
way over to the cinema. I never really used to enjoy the cinema that much, but
with lazyboy chairs, your own personal duvet and table service in seating that
is arranged like the Cathay Pacific first class travel seats, over here is it a
complete and utter treat. We went to see Kingsman for a little burst of British
entertainment, with tea and Coke Zero on hand instead of popcorn or any other
treats.
Cinema with well behaved treats on the side |
I have to admit
that it still wasn’t the most active of days, but it was great to get back on
track and it’s always lovely to maintain the very relaxed atmosphere of a lazy
weekend at home.
