Although I definitely didn’t get enough sleep on Sunday night, 7am
dawned bright and sunny as I slipped out of the flat (trying and failing not to
wake Nick up) for my second golf lesson.
I am not sure whether
it was because I had already had a glass of wine when Nick dug out a polo shirt
for me to borrow on Saturday evening, so I didn’t really register the colour of
it, or whether I ought to blame it on the panic shopping that resulted in me
purchasing a pair of the brightest shorts I could find, but the outfit I left
the flat in only got more obnoxious as the sun got brighter.
By the time I arrived
at my lesson almost an hour after leaving the flat (I tried the MRT route to
get there – massive error!) it actually burnt peoples eyes to look directly at me. Luckily
my golf instructor thought it was the perfect colour combination, and he even
went so far as to inform me that the Japanese pros always wear the brightest,
most clashing colours they can find, and when he goes to competitions he will
always take at least five pairs of shoes so that he can perfect clash-match
each and every one of his outfits.
I am not sure whether I
will brave the pink-orange combination again, but it was fun while it lasted, and I had a
really great class too, so that definitely helped! My swing is apparently coming
on in leaps and bounds, and I had so much fun this week that when our class finished I went and
got an extra bucket of balls to work my way through for an extra 45 minutes. If it weren't for the sudden extreme hunger that hit me towards the end of that bucket, and the heat that was getting unbearable in long shorts, I would easily have stayed for another hour at least.
Not only did I get as
much as possible out of the session, but by the time that I finally got back to
the flat, Nick had done all the cleaning and washing up from the night before
too! It was an early start to Sunday, but totally worth it.
