Friday night dinner

Whilst I have had a very well behaved week in general, the plan is to undo all that good work this Friday night with dinner for Tommy (who is visiting for the weekend from Phuket), Harriet and Jamie (who he is staying with).
Having spent the last few days cleaning up the flat and preparing a couple of courses of dinner, tonight there will be some wine, maybe some cocktails, and then a three course dinner of charcuterie with bread, pesto crusted garoupa with crushed new potatoes and veggies and homemade apple pies with ice-cream for pudding.
The food isn’t going to be anything too special, but it’s always nice to have people over to the flat, and I do love hosting a nice little dinner party when I get the chance!

After having a really great meeting at Singtel to round off my Friday afternoon, I headed back to the flat a little bit earlier than normal to get everything ready and to ensure that there would be food ready pretty much as soon as people arrived at the door. Unfortunately, the 7pm meeting time started to get pushed back quite a bit, and by the time everyone rocked up at 8pm I was starving and they were all a little tipsy, but still, we had a great dinner and a lot of fairly ridiculous chat (which is entirely to be expected with these boys).
We haven’t seen much of Harriet and Jamie since I’ve lived here, so it was nice to spend a bit more time with them and to catch up with Tommy too, who always plays host to us so beautifully when we go over and stay with them in Phuket.
By around 11pm it was time for Harriet to head more for sleep ready for work the next day, whilst the boys carried on their night with a cocktail making competition. Not really feeling the need to join in on the action too much I made myself useful clearing up some of the mess and setting my slightly destroyed kitchen back into a more useable state.
As the clock struck around 1am Jamie and Tommy decided it was time for them to branch out and locate some of Jamies’ friends at a local KTV karaoke bar, so we very happily closed the door on their prancing bodies as they danced their way out, and we very quickly collapsed into bed.
