After a usual early start at 7:30 this morning, I have spent my day cleaning, doing laundry, straighten the flat, catching up on work, making a dent in one of my 30-Before-30 Top 100 novels and generally straighten out our lives a little bit. Nick slept through most of this – the boy does love to sleep.
By midmorning he was up
and about, and in an effort to do something a little bit different but that
would not involve us having to head into the craziness of the city centre just
yet we made our way down and through Little India to a café / restaurant that
serves really reasonable food in a fun, busy environment.
In the next few weeks
Little India will be turned into one giant light installation as they prepare
to celebrate Diwali / Deepavali. They lights are up and over the roads (in the
style of Oxford Street at Christmas time) so I am very excited to go and have a
close look at that nearer the time.
For now, they had
closed off a couple of streets and had opened up new stalls and market to start
getting the local communities excited about the celebrations. We only passed through
quite quickly, but it was looking spectacular, and was a great little corner of
the world for our casual lunch.
By the time we got back
to the flat it was nearly time to head out for the night, so after a quick
change of clothes, we were ready for more racing cars!
