Speed dating and Christmas planning

It’s been a strange sort of a day at work for me today. To start with, I had to cancel my lunch plans with a friend to go and spend an hour or to starting the planning for an industry Christmas party for 700 people (it seems that whenever a new committee is set up, it’s essential that I join the team).
Unfortunately the date of the event is actually while I’ll be sunning myself in the Gillis with Nick (as part of my very fabulous birthday present which is booked in for early December), but I suppose it’s still fun to help plan it all, and at least this way I won’t have to deal with any last minute disasters or issues that crop up on the night!
Then, once I was feeling all festive and Christmassy, I went to the Google offices and spent my evening ‘speed dating’ with potential clients from Jakarta through the wonders of Google’s Skype style conference call systems. It was all a bit bizarre, but what can I say, I got a lovely dinner out of it, and hopefully made a few more contacts so it was well worth staying at work until 10pm to get it done.
