Welcoming the new boy

Nick had a new boy starting in the Singapore office today, having spent the last four years being prepared for the move in the London office.
When people move out for the first time they generally find themselves bundled into a hotel for the first week and then a temporary rented apartment for a month or so while they find their feet and work out where they might want to live full time.
Aware of how sad this must be when you’re new in town and faced with eating dinners on your own for the first week when you have no kitchen facilities of your own, I made Nick invite the new boy over for dinner on Monday night.
There wasn’t anything special on offer – just salad and chicken, but eating with people you vaguely know must be much nicer than being stranded in one of the local hawker centres, so hopefully the gesture was appreciated.
It also meant that I finally had an excuse to buy one of the ready cooked chickens from ColdStorage. It wasn’t quite as nice as the ones you can get from Tesco at home, but it was pretty tasty, so pleased to have tried that out just once…I think I might need to get out more!
