It’s been a long time coming – in fact, when I first moved to Singapore
it was supposed to be happening in March, but the time has finally come for
Kate and Duncan to pack their bags and head off to Hong Kong to start on the next
leg of their adventure.
It will be really
strange to not have them around as they are a great couple to hang out with,
they’re always keen to play and they made a good starting point for any party
or gathering. With them departing as well as Sita we’re starting to look a bit
thin on the ground with buddies
They going to be flying
out of Singapore for the final time on Friday morning, and whilst we had
already had a full Sentosa brunch to bid them farewell, with the final
Wednesday (ladies night) that they were in town being free, it was very quickly
allocated as a final night of drinking and dancing to seal their departure.
The idea for the
evening was that the boys would go and eat curry and drink beer whilst the girls
would make the most of ladies night by gathering up some free drinks and then
going dancing anywhere that tickled our fancy.
Disappointingly, this
isn’t quite how it all panned out. Duncan ended up having to call off the boys
plan because he was unwell, leaving Nick and Flash playing video games for an
hour or so before calling it a night. In the meantime, the girls gathered at a
rooftop bar in the city ready to start our night out, only to be greeted by a
Kate who had a lot on her plate and no enthusiasm for a night of dancing. After
a round of soda waters with lime each we decided that we had probably had enough
for one night too. And so the grand exit from Singapore was a little bit more
of a gentle fizzling out rather than a big explosion with fireworks and all the
trimmings, but it was nice to get one final goodbye in before they really do
leave.
I really should get
working on making some new buddies and finding some new people to play with!
